Last week at Busby's we were lucky enough to be joined by Carolyn, Klara, Emma and Ian from iMag Magazine. These four were our special guests for the day, as they enjoyed a delicious lunch with us on our beautiful balcony. All said they were amazed by the delicious food presented by Jamie and the team and well our relaxing location. Overall they boasted of their highly enjoyable experience so much so Carolyn penned this lovely review below.
On a picture perfect day Klara, Emma, Ian and I went to a Restaurant worth travelling for again and again. Busby’s Cafe Restaurant at Wisemans Ferry was that wonderful surprise you always hope for. The menu has all your favourites, the ones you look for but never find at one venue. We all chose something different so we could taste each other’s meals. So glad we did.
We started with the Seared succulent Scallops, perfectly cooked in with virgin salsa, chive oil and prosciutto scrolls. We added the King Prawn Tagliatelle (freshly-made pasta) in garlic, chilli, basil and home-grown tomatoes white wine sauce with roasted capsicum and black olives, topped with shaved parmesan. The subtle blend of the garlic and chilli left us wanting to have this again next visit. We shared these two dishes as entrees between the four of us. They complimented each other beautifully. We eyed off the Salt and Pepper Quail (GF) on crisp veg. salad with chilli lime mayonnaise which the neighbouring table had. They assured us it was equally wonderful. (Next time).
Emma chose the Lamb Loin with Mediterranean potato and vegetable galette, Klara the Barramundi Fillet and King Prawns, Ian had the Freshly Made Pappardelle, with bacon, mushrooms, spinach leaves and semi dried tomatoes in a creamy white wine sauce with pecorino cheese, and I chose the Sirloin Steak with red wine jus with salad and homemade chips. We each had a taste of each other’s and it would be impossible to fault any meal. All delicious with the meat and fish dishes moist, succulent and perfectly cooked. The sauces were subtle and complimentary to the dishes, meal sizes were great and the wine list was well thought out and reasonably priced. Something for every taste and pocket. The children’s menu is well-chosen and priced as well.
The desserts were so beautifully presented it seemed a shame to eat them but we sacrificed art for the sake of our tastebuds and they were as fabulous as the rest of the meal had been. Klara chose the Lime and Coconut Cheesecake, Emma the Chocolate Mocha Tart with espresso ice cream and Toasted cinnamon macadamia nuts, Ian had a Strawberry and Crème Friache Flan with chocolate motifs and I chose the Caramelised Maple Creams with toffeed banana and caramel wafer. Hard to pick a favourite however, I never choose cheesecake as I make my baked Lemon cheesecake (from our Restaurant days at Old Courthouse Minmi) however I must say the Lime and Coconut cheesecake was light, flavoursome and my favourite.
We are looking forward to our next visit to Busby’s and we strongly recommend this lovely restaurant with its’ fabulous food and lovely staff to everyone. Worth the drive and a great way to spend a day. Enjoy.
We would like to thank Carolyn and the iMag team for their lovely review and we will hopefully see you all again soon!
